Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer to join our growing engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design of mechanical building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection, while supporting projects from concept through construction across healthcare, institutional, industrial, and commercial sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Design mechanical building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection.
- Prepare detailed mechanical drawings, schematics, and construction details using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
- Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain technical information and budget pricing.
- Assist in the preparation of technical specifications.
- Conduct site investigations to verify existing conditions, take measurements, and document findings.
- Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) during the construction phase.
- Review shop drawings and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Coordinate with project teams, consultants, and contractors throughout the design and construction process.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary diploma in Architectural Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology,
or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical building systems design.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
- Understanding of construction practices, materials, methods, drawings, contracts, and specifications.
- Familiarity with electrical building systems is considered an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Robust analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
