Our public sector client is seeking a Senior Microsoft Fabric / Data Architecture Consultant to modernize and refactor legacy Microsoft BI solutions using Microsoft Fabric

This role supports a large-scale modernization initiative focused on reviewing and improving enterprise data architecture and Microsoft BI environments. The consultant will assess current architecture, validate alignment with Microsoft Fabric and data lifecycle best practices, and support hands‑on refactoring of legacy SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS solutions to Microsoft Fabric. The engagement includes architecture review, implementation planning, optimization, technical documentation, and hands‑on development activities.

On site, Remote or hybrid, with occasional onsite meetings or working sessions as required by the customer (St. Catherines)

Must Haves

- Experience in data architecture and enterprise data warehouse design
- Hands‑on Microsoft Fabric implementation and modernization experience
- Robust Microsoft BI background including SQL Server , SSIS , SSAS , SSRS , and Power BI
- Microsoft Azure and full data lifecycle delivery across ingestion, modelling, transformation, semantic layers, reporting, governance, deployment, and operations




- Experience modernizing or refactoring legacy BI environments to Microsoft Fabric , Azure data platform , or comparable cloud analytics platforms

Nice to Have

- Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate certification
- Azure Data Engineer Associate certification
- Power BI certification or equivalent experience
- Experience with data governance, architecture standards, security, privacy, access patterns, and documentation
- Public-sector or municipal experience

Responsibilities

- Review and validate current data architecture, methodologies, standards, patterns, and implementation approaches
- Assess alignment with Microsoft Fabric, data warehouse, BI, and data lifecycle best practices
- Identify improvement opportunities and support implementation of approved architectural changes
- Support refactoring of legacy SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS components to Microsoft Fabric and related Microsoft BI capabilities
- Assist with performance tuning and optimization of data warehouse structures, pipelines, semantic models, and reporting workloads
- Research Microsoft Fabric features and recommend practical implementation opportunities
- Create technical documentation, decision records, implementation guidance, and knowledge transfer materials
