Sr. Project Manager, Learning Technology
Location: Toronto, ON
Onsite Flexibility: Hybrid
Contract Details
- Position Type: Contract
- Contract Duration: 14 months (extension possible)
- Pay Rate: C$70.00–C$82.00 / Hour (CAD)
- Shift / Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- Travel Requirements: Not required
Job Summary The Sr. Project Manager, Learning Technology will lead the end-to-end planning and execution of a new enterprise Learning Management System (LMS) in a large financial institution. This is a multi-year transformational initiative.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Delivery
- Develop and manage project plans, schedules, milestones, and critical paths
- Monitor and report progress, risks, issues, dependencies, assumptions, and decisions
- Manage project scope, budget, and resource requirements
- Ensure adherence to enterprise project governance standards
LMS Implementation
- Lead the implementation of a Learning Management System (LMS), including configuration, deployment, and transition activities, ensuring business requirements are translated into actionable project deliverables
- Coordinate data migration planning and validation activities
- Support testing strategy, execution, defect management, and readiness assessments
- Oversee system integration, user acceptance, and production readiness activities
- Ensure a successful transition to BAU
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Build strong working relationships with business, technology, learning, and compliance stakeholders
- Manage multiple implementation partners and vendors
- Facilitate project meetings, working sessions, workshops, and executive reviews
- Escalate and resolve project issues in a timely manner
Governance & Reporting
- Prepare executive reporting, dashboards, status updates, RAID logs, and SteerCo materials
- Present project status and recommendations to senior leadership
- Support decision-making through clear analysis and communication
Change Management & Business Readiness
- Partner with change and communication teams to support adoption and readiness activities
- Ensure stakeholders are prepared for upcoming releases and system changes
- Support transition to operational teams and post-deployment stabilization
Required Skills

- Ability to manage transformational projects with disciplined execution in: project planning and execution; risk, issue, and dependency management; budget and financial management; schedule management; vendor management; and governance and reporting
Learning Technology
- Learning Management Systems (LMS)
- Learning technology ecosystems

- Learning operations and administration
- Learning reporting and analytics
Leadership
- Ability to tailor communications to different stakeholders at different levels, especially executives
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and build relationships effectively, leveraging sound communication, negotiation, consensus-building, and influencing skills
- Change leadership
- Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Highly adaptable and flexible with ability to take initiative in a dynamic work setting
- Proficiency in MS Office suite and project management software
- Competency in team meeting facilitation in virtual and hybrid environments leveraging collaboration tools such as MS Teams
Preferred Skills
- Experience leading LMS implementation, upgrade, data migration, and modernization initiatives
- Experience with deploying Workday Learning, SumTotal, Cornerstone, SuccessFactors, Degreed, EdCast, Sana,
or similar learning platforms
- Experience with HRIS or Talent platforms
- Experience supporting bilingual or multilingual implementations
- Experience working within regulated or compliance-driven environments
- Learning analytics and reporting
Required Experience
- 7 years of project management experience in:
- Large-scale enterprise system/technology implementations or upgrades involving configuration, data migration, testing, and deployment - Working within Learning & Development, Human Resources, Talent, Workforce Enablement, or related functions - Managing third-party implementation partners - Managing multiple workstreams with complex dependencies - Navigating complex stakeholder environments with executive governance and a Steering Committee
Education Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Learning, HR, Business, Technology, or related discipline
- PMP, Agile, Scrum, SAFe, and/or equivalent project delivery certification (preferred)
