Translator - Senior

Location: Toronto, ON

Onsite Flexibility: Hybrid — 1–2 days per week (Wednesdays and every 3rd Friday of the month). Ideally seeking candidates in the GTA who can come into the office per the hybrid schedule. Open to remote candidates outside of Ontario if they are the right fit; if outside of ON, expectation to work within core Toronto business hours (EST).

Contract Details

- Position Type: Contract
- Contract Duration: 6 months (extension may be possible according to business needs)
- Pay Rate: C$40.00–C$45.00 / Hour (CAD)
- Shift / Schedule: 37.5 hours/week, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM, Monday to Friday (some flexibility to start at 8:00/8:30 AM). If outside of Ontario, expectation to work within core Toronto business hours (EST).

Job Summary This role sits within the Knowledge Management line of business, which works on internal procedures for frontline, telephone banking, and back-office employees. The team handles a variety of work packages that need to be updated or created net new, and partners with all lines of business across the bank to communicate their offers and processes.

The contractor will work in an Agile pod , supporting project work related to internal procedures and content for frontline processes. This is a backfill for an existing worker.

The immediate team is made up of the hiring manager, another manager, and a team of Content Writers, French Content Specialists, and Content Leads. The Agile pod includes English- and French-speaking team members, including Intake Specialists, Content Writers, and Content Leads. Within the department, there are also other French-speaking team members who work on a variety of projects.

The team is described as close-knit and supportive,



offering an opportunity to work and build relationships within the immediate team and broader department.

Key Responsibilities The main function of the Translator is to translate written or spoken materials from one language to another.

- Listen to, understand, and translate spoken or written statements from one language to another
- Facilitate effective communication by converting one spoken/written language to another
- Relay concepts and ideas between languages
- Edit and proofread text to accurately reflect language
- Adapt a product or service for use in a different language and culture

Education Requirements

- BA in Translation (required)

Important Notes

- Interview will be conducted in English and French .




- A 1-hour timed translation exercise will be sent to candidates selected from the shortlist. Instructions and the document will be shared; the completed exercise will be reviewed by the hiring team upon completion.
- Interview format: 1 round of interviews (30 minutes) via MS Teams or in-person if the candidate is located in the GTA, with the hiring manager, another manager on the team, and a French team member.
