About Wahous Wilderness Lodge

Located on traditional Ahousaht territory, Wahous Wilderness Lodge offers a unique blend of luxury and adventure nestled in the heart of Clayoquot Sound. Our lodge features 16 premium guest rooms, a sophisticated lounge and restaurant, spa facilities, eco-tour activities, and a one-of-a-kind longhouse. Beyond our seasonal eco-tourism activities (May to October), we also host transformative healing and wellness programs for youth and adults.

What You’ll Do

We are looking for a friendly, energetic, and guest-focused Server to join our team at Wahous Wilderness Lodge. The Server will provide attentive food and beverage service, ensuring guests enjoy a welcoming and memorable dining experience. The ideal candidate is reliable, personable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced hospitality environment while maintaining a high standard of service.

Key ResponsibilitiesGuest Experience & Service

- Provide warm, genuine, and attentive service to all guests from arrival to departure
- Anticipate guest needs and personalize service based on preferences and dietary requirements
- Guide guests through menus, including detailed explanations of dishes, ingredients, and sourcing
- Present food and beverages with professionalism and confidence
- Maintain a strong presence in the dining room without being intrusive

Food & Beverage Knowledge

- Demonstrate deep knowledge of all menus (breakfast, lunch, dinner, tasting menus)
- Understand preparation methods, allergens, and dietary accommodations
- Confidently describe and recommend wine, cocktails, and non-alcoholic pairings




- Support storytelling around local and seasonal ingredients

Dining Room Operations

- Set up and reset dining areas to lodge standards (tables, linens, glassware, cutlery)
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of all service areas
- Execute smooth, well-paced service in coordination with the kitchen
- Handle POS system accurately (orders, billing, payments)

Beverage Service

- Prepare and serve basic beverages (coffee, tea, simple cocktails if required)
- Execute wine service including opening, pouring, and proper presentation
- Monitor guest consumption and ensure responsible alcohol service

Team Collaboration

- Communicate clearly with kitchen and bar teams to ensure timing and accuracy
- Assist other team members during service as needed
- Participate in daily briefings and service meetings

Health, Safety & Compliance

- Follow all food safety and sanitation standards (aligned with VHA requirements)
- Maintain personal hygiene and clean uniform standards
- Ensure safe handling of food and beverages at all times
- Adhere to liquor service regulations and lodge policies

Guest Environment & Lodge Support

- Assist with overall guest experience beyond dining (directions, general inquiries)
- Maintain a calm, polished atmosphere in all guest-facing areas
- Support lodge operations in a remote workplace where flexibility is essential

What You Bring

Qualifications

- Previous serving or hospitality experience is an asset, but not required.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Friendly, professional, and approachable demeanor.
- Robust attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Ability to work efficiently in a quick-paced environment.
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices is an asset.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and safely carry food, beverages, and service items.
- Positive attitude and commitment to providing an exceptional guest experience.

Preferred Skills

- OFA 3 / Advanced First Aid certification is an asset.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to work in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
- Capable of standing for long periods and lifting up to 50 pounds.

- Hourly wage: $20–$23, depending on experience
