Empower individuals experiencing homelessness as a ShelterCare Support Worker with House of Friendship. This part-time, contract role, offers 15 hours per week and a chance to make a real difference. As a ShelterCare Support Worker, you'll engage with men experiencing homelessness to improve their wellbeing and secure permanent housing.
Working part-time during weekends from 4 PM to 12 AM, your primary focus will be upholding the values of Compassion, Inclusion, and Dignity while providing crucial support. You will implement trauma-informed and person-centered methods through one-on-one interactions and responsibilities across the ShelterCare program. Key Responsibilities:
- Engage participants to foster meaningful support relationships
- Conduct intake conversations and orientation for current clients
- Develop personalized housing plans for individuals
- Support life skills related to housing retention
- Respond to medical emergencies and navigate services Requirements:
- Two-year post-secondary education in a related field
- Experience supporting individuals with mental health and trauma
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to respond calmly in crisis situations
