Shipping/Receiving Lead

Summerside Port Corporation Inc. (SPCI) was established in 2008 as a not-for-profit corporation to negotiate the transfer of assets of the Port of Summerside from the Government of Canada. On February 19, 2010, SPCI assumed the ownership of the former Transport Canada facilities at the Port of Summerside.
Position Summary
Seaside Cold Storage is a subsidiary of Summerside Port Corporation Inc. that will be opening in the Fall of 2026. The Shipping/Receiving Lead is responsible for supporting and coordinating the day-to-day shipping and receiving operations within the cold storage facility located at the Port of Summerside. This individual plays a key role on the warehouse floor, ensuring safe, efficient and timely loading and unloading of trucks, movement and storage of frozen products, and accurate processing of inventory through the warehouse management system.
The successful candidate will be hands-on, organized, safety focused, capable of working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of accuracy and service.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily warehouse activities by conducting receiving, shipping, handling, staging and storage processes
- Ensure shipments are properly identified, counted, inspected, and documented during receiving and shipping activities
- Manage inventory control and product movements
- Assist in the implementation and continued usage of the warehouse management system
- Ensure food safety plan and procedures are followed
- General housekeeping and maintenance
- Maintain and enforce company safety policies, product handling requirements and cold-storage procedures
- Other duties shall be assigned as required
Qualifications
- 3-5 years experience in a lead role within the shipping/receiving industry
- Strong understanding of receiving, shipping, staging and inventory processes
- Experience using a warehouse management system or similar inventory/warehouse software
- Familiarity with standard food safety procedures
- Forklift operating license
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and safety
- Ability to lift to 50lbs
- Ability to work in freezer temperatures
- Lifting, pushing/pulling and bending required
- Willingness for off-shift work
Wages and Benefits
- Salary range $50,000 - $65,000
