Our client, a specialist in retail renovations and construction, is looking for a Site Supervisor in Canada. The right candidate must have experience in retail or commercial construction and be willing to travel across Canada to job sites. This is a permanent position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Site Supervisor will coordinate subcontractor schedules, ensure timely execution, ensure safety measures are fully implemented and adhered to, liaise with the respective project manager, subcontractors, municipal building & permit departments, and complete projects within strict deadlines and budgets, coordinating the efforts of team members and subcontractors.
- Ensure Quality Control in all areas of the project.
- OPERATIONAL: Work with the Project Manager and Project Coordinators to ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope.
- Conduct Site Risk Assessments, and look for opportunities for avoidance.
- Work within the detailed project plan to track progress.
- Review field issues and opportunities with the Project Manager and Project Coordinator to find solutions.
- Ensure Management Team is aware of any problems, looping them in by e-mail when dealing with contentious issues
- Ensure that corporate health & safety procedures, job site security, and safety standards are implemented and followed.
- Ensure job reporting and documents are obtained, submitted correctly and on time.
- Follow up with subcontractors to make sure that job schedules are being respected and project is on track.
- Ensure manpower is effectively coordinated and material purchases stay in line schedule and budgets.
- Ensure positive communication with all persons associated with the project, both internal / external partners.
- Ensure timely completion of punch list work.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- 5 years+ experience in retail construction.
- Exceptional knowledge of construction methods and building requirements;
- Excellent knowledge and capacity to implement health & safety standards
- Excellent negotiation skills;
- Excellent proficiency at reading architectural plans and technical drawings;
- Thorough knowledge of construction standards and best practices;
- Leadership to drive all projects on time and on budget;
- Great management and communication skills with labor, sub-trades, and suppliers;
- Ensure our strict quality standards are always met;
- Applicants must have a robust background and proven experience in the construction industry.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Travel across Canada is required.
