SOC 225: Digital Society.
This course introduces students to sociological perspectives on digital technologies in contemporary society, with particular emphasis on the role they play in the daily lives of Canadians. Specific topics might include social media; dis/misinformation; online shopping, dating, and gaming; Big Data, Al, and surveillance capitalism; and issues of privacy and access to information.
Position Requirements
- M.A. in Sociology or a related social science field required; Ph.D. preferred.
- Demonstrated competence to teach the course subject matter.
- Demonstrated successful experience in university-level teaching.
Physical Demands Pay Grade Faculty Sessional Salary Range As per URFA Collective Agreement Status Term Work Hours This course is scheduled to be Face-to-Face in CL 317 at the University of Regina. The class is scheduled for Mondays & Wednesdays, 1430-1545. Instructors are expected to have one office hour per week.
Sessional Lecturers may have preparatory work to do before the start date and sometimes may have to deal with grading tasks after the termination date.
