The prospect
HILO is looking for a creative and resourceful Content & Community Manager to help bring building communities to life through social media, digital content, retailer promotions and community engagement.
This is a hands-on role for someone with strengths in social media management, content creation, simple short-form video, retailer coordination and community engagement. The right person can turn everyday activity into strong stories and is comfortable working with clients, retailers and community partners.
You will help manage content and social media for one of HILO’s Toronto client communities. The program will bring together building news, community events, retailer promotions, exclusive offers and other useful content across multiple digital channels.
This is more than a posting and scheduling role. You will help create a connected content program that encourages participation, supports local retailers and gives people more reasons to engage with their workplace community.
What you will do
- Develop and manage monthly content calendars for social media channels
- Create approximately 8 to 12 social-first posts per month, including static posts, carousels, Stories, Reels and short-form video
- Write clear, engaging copy that reflects the client’s voice and brand standards
- Create polished visual content using client-supplied materials, original photography and design tools
- Capture and edit simple,
engaging photo and video content using a smartphone and accessible editing tools
- Adapt and repurpose content across social media channels and HILO-powered digital platforms
- Highlight building events, services, community initiatives, retailers, promotions and exclusive offers
- Coordinate content needs and build positive working relationships with client contacts, retailers and community partners
- Coordinate and conduct occasional on-site content captures with clients, retailers and community partners
- Present content to the client for approval and manage revisions before publishing
- Schedule and publish approved content
- Monitor performance and identify practical ways to improve reach, engagement and participation
- Look for new content, promotional and partnership opportunities that benefit the broader community
- Help HILO build a repeatable community engagement program that can grow across additional client properties
What you bring
- Approximately one to three years of experience in social media, content creation, community marketing or a related field, or an exceptional portfolio that demonstrates comparable ability
- Strong writing and editing skills, with an eye for tone, clarity and detail
- A portfolio that shows engaging social media content across a variety of formats
- Experience creating social-first content for Instagram and Facebook, including Reels, Stories, carousels and short-form video
- Strong visual judgment and the ability to work within established client brand standards
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva and Google Workspace
- Confidence capturing authentic photo and short-form video content with a smartphone, and turning it into polished, platform-ready posts
- Familiarity with social media publishing, scheduling and performance analytics
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage calendars, approvals and deadlines
- Professional and personable communication skills
- The confidence to communicate directly with clients, retailers and community partners
- The ability to work independently while staying closely connected to members of the team
- A practical, entrepreneurial outlook and an interest in finding new ways to increase participation and engagement
- Residence in Toronto or the GTA, with the ability to attend occasional site visits in downtown Toronto
- What success looks like
- During your first several months, you will:
- Establish a reliable and well-organized content planning process
- Consistently deliver high-quality content on schedule
- Build strong relationships with HILO’s client and participating retailers
- Increase the range and relevance of content being shared
- Encourage greater retailer and community participation
- Improve social reach, engagement and audience response
- Help connect content and promotions across multiple digital channels
- Identify new ideas that can strengthen the program and support its future expansion
