The Corridor Clinical Department Lead (CCDL) Co - Lead – Surgery CRH is a medical leadership role governed by the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and works collaboratively in a dyad leadership model with Directors for AHS administration, to lead and participate in the development of system wide clinical services. The CCDL is responsible for overseeing clinical operations involving members of their Corridor Clinical Department and reports to the Associate Corridor Medical Lead – Surgery.

The CCDL fulfills the duties and responsibilities assigned by the AHS Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules as they pertain to the South Corridor Clinical Department of Surgery. The CCDL will maintain and recruit an appropriately trained physician workforce, ensure high standards of clinical care and ethical conduct of medical staff, foster maintenance of competence and promote a learning environment for physicians, students and staff within South Corridors.

- Establish a Corridor Clinical Department Executive Committee;
- Advocate for the provision of high quality and safe patient care;
- Attend the monthly Zone Medical Advisory Committee (ZMAC);
- Periodic reviews for Corridor Clinical Department members (every 3 years, or annual for staff > 65 year old) at request of Zone Medical Director;




- Probationary Assessments for all recent active members of the medical staff within clinical department of responsibility;
- Rotational participation as a voting member with the Zone Application Review Committee (ZARC);
- Participate in Corridor and Provincial work as designated by the Associate Corridor Medical Lead, or Zone Medical Director;
- Identify need for and manage recruitment together with Corridor Medical Affairs;
- Practitioner workforce planning in collaboration with Corridor Medical Affairs;
- Promoting and representing the activities of the Corridor Clinical Department.

Along with carrying out the above key responsibilities, the CCDL should have demonstrated abilities in communication, conflict resolution and a passion for quality and patient safety. They will be an inclusive and visionary leader and considered to be a strong clinician by peers.
