Job Description
The position provides basic administrative work processes, technical knowledge, and direction as listed. This role has the responsibility to promote Fluor’s competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value and technical competence. This position serves as a Discipline Material Control on assigned projects or reports to Discipline Lead Material Controllers on assigned projects of difficult complexity. Has working knowledge of Fluor’s practices and guidelines.

Material Control Planning

Develop and maintain the Structural Material Control Plan in alignment with project execution plans and material responsibility matrix

Align material control activities with project schedules, CWP structure, and construction sequencing

Establish and maintain Material Control Level Schedules

Material Take-Off (MTO) & Quantity Management

Initiate, validate, and maintain structural material take-offs (MTOs) (steel, concrete, rebar, anchors, etc.)

Perform quantity verification, cross-checking, and change control of structural materials

Track quantities through stages (baseline, control, forecast, IFC) and maintain audit trail

Procurement & Requisitioning

Prepare and manage material requisitions (RFQ/PO) and support procurement processes

Coordinate with engineering and procurement on technical documentation and specifications

Ensure requisition timing aligns with project schedules and delivery requirements

Material Tracking & Systems

Utilize MaterialManager / MQMS/ Quantifier systems to manage structural material data, forecasting, and reporting

Maintain catalogs, material codes, and piece-mark tracking for fabricated steel (if applicable)

Monitor procurement status (required, ordered, received)

Reporting & Forecasting

Develop and maintain key quantity reports and material trend reports

Forecast structural material quantities and identify risks or shortages

Support monthly reporting for project controls and management

Coordination

Interface with engineering, procurement, material planning, construction, and fabricators

Support material planning,



expediting priorities, and delivery strategies

Assist with fabrication drawing review and piece-mark tracking

Material Planning & Site Support

Support material availability planning and expediting strategies

Assist warehouse and construction teams with:

Material receiving (MRR)

Shortage resolution

Surplus minimization

Basic Job Requirements

Accredited two (2) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and four (4) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to six (6) years if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications to comply with local requirements

Minimum 3 years’ experience in structural materials (steel, concrete, rebar systems) management

Familiarity with MTO processes, fabrication workflows, and EPC projects

Experience with material control systems (MaterialManager, MQMS, Quantifier etc.) preferred

Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors

Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job

Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines

Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner

Preferred Qualifications

Strong understanding of structural materials and drawings

Robust understanding of Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Construction Work Package (CWP)

Familiarity with structural analysis software and 3D modelling software such as RISA 3D and Navisworks

Proficient in conducting material take-offs at preliminary engineering levels and detailed engineering levels





Ability to manage large datasets and perform quantity reconciliation

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Excel

Analytical skills in quantity tracking and forecasting

Attention to detail and data accuracy

Solid coordination and communication skills

Understanding of construction sequencing and logistics

Compensation
Salary is based upon experience. Salary Range: $73,000.00 - $135,000.00

The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
