The Lethbridge Soccer Association is seeking evening & weekends building operator/janitor to oversee the operations, maintenance, and cleanliness of the Servus Sports Centre during non-standard hours. (Mid September - Mid July) This role ensures the building and grounds remain safe, functional, and welcoming for patrons and staff. The supervisor provides hands-on maintenance support, coordinates custodial and event setup, responds to facility emergencies, and ensures compliance with safety and operational standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Facility Operations & Maintenance
- Perform general building maintenance.
- Conduct routine facility inspections to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, or equipment malfunctions.
- Ensure all facility systems are functioning properly (e.g., soccer equipment, lighting, security systems).
- Coordinate with daytime maintenance staff to ensure continuity of maintenance and repair efforts.
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, tools, and repair materials; report low stock or order needs.
- Supervise evening and weekend maintenance, custodial, and setup/teardown staff.
- Ensure concession and lounge staff follow proper cleaning and maintenance procedures.
Safety & Security
- Serve as the on-site contact for after-hours emergencies (e.g., leaks, power outages, accidents).
- Ensure all safety systems (alarms, exits, fire extinguishers) are operational and accessible.
- Enforce facility policies regarding safety and security procedures.
- Complete and file incident or maintenance reports as needed.
Event & Facility Support
- Coordinate and assist with event setups, teardowns, and room configurations for recreational programs, rentals, or special events.
- Communicate with event staff or program coordinators to ensure proper setup and facility readiness.
- Respond promptly to facility user requests or operational issues during events.
Administrative Duties
- Log maintenance activities and communicate issues to the Facilities Manager.
- Submit shift reports summarizing work completed, incidents, and outstanding repairs.
- Recommend improvements to maintenance processes and efficiency.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (some technical or trade school preferred).
- Maintenance, custodial, or facility operations experience preferred.
- Ability to use maintenance tools and equipment safely.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and handle emergencies calmly.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Working Conditions
- Evening and weekend shifts required.
- Physical work involving lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, standing, and using ladders or power tools.
- Indoor and outdoor work in various weather conditions.
Job Types: Part-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 10 months
Pay: From $18.25 per hour
