Advising on the appropriateness, precedents and process for petitions and appeals, and suggesting alternative course of action as necessary.
Advising contacts on the interpretation of petitions and/or appeals rules and policies.
Assessing petitions and/or appeals and determining which claim(s) can be resolved immediately and which requires committee review.
Determining the outcome of petitions and/or appeals cases not assigned to committees for further review.
Writing confidential petition and/or appeals decisions.
Creating a master list of students writing deferred examinations.
Providing proactive support to individuals in distress and making referrals to specific university services.
Requirements Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent education and/or experience.
Minimum four years of experience supporting students in academic settings.
Four years of experience interpreting and assessing and approving student petitions and appeals.
Four years of experience implementing academic accommodations, scheduling, and tracking make-up/deferred examinations.
Four years of experience supporting committees including scheduling, creation and distribution of agenda and minutes, record keeping, collating and organizing data for various reports.
Experience analyzing service delivery and/or internal processes and recommending improvements.
Strong knowledge and proficiency with a student information system such as the Repository of Student Information (ROSI) including progression, transcripts, enrollment, grades, downloads of information (ROSI outputs).
Ability to create and implement standard operating procedures using strong organizational and analytical skills.
Superb interpersonal, and communication skills (verbal and written) that support both student development and effective student services management.




Demonstrated ability to exercise tact, discretion and sensitivity to confidential matters; knowledge and application of Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA).
Demonstrated knowledge of customer service and communications standards in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
Excellent knowledge of U of T supports and services available to be able to refer students or serve as a resource to other student facing staff/faculty.
Robust computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Lists.
Exceptional demonstrated customer service and stakeholder relationship management when dealing with students, faculty, staff and other stakeholders external to LDFP Experience.
Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in assessing and interpreting student petitions and appeals, implementing academic accommodations, and providing proactive support to students in distress. Proficient in utilizing student information systems and creating standard operating procedures to enhance service delivery.
