For full time and permanent Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) positions, recruitment bonuses include: $3,000 on start date, $3,000 at 6 months of service, $5,000 at 1 year of service, and $7,000 at 2 years of service. There is a 2-year return of service requirement for this recruitment and retention bonus.

Reporting to the Nurse Manager Surgical Services , the Surgical Flow Coordinator (SFC) is responsible for optimized scheduling of surgical procedures at Qikiqtani General Hospital (QGH) that assures a safe, productive, end-to-end perioperative client experience. The incumbent communicates with hospital clinics and territorial health services to determine and coordinate the clients’ needs and access to surgical services. These include that preoperative assessment is done, travel arrangements are complete, the time and date of the surgical procedure is explained and agreed upon by the client.

Responsibilities

Additional key responsibilities include

- Coordinating the surgical schedule patient bookings, ensuring availability of all members of the surgical team and OR equipment;

- Communicating the daily and weekly operating room schedule to all necessary areas, booking emergency cases and communicating and monitoring surgical cancellations;





- Ensuring all surgeon/clinics have submitted the required documentation prior to scheduling any procedures; and

- Acting as a primary client resource to communicate pre- and post-operative instructions and answer their questions related to their perioperative experience.

Qualifications The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a diploma for Licensed Practical Nurse. Candidates must be eligible to register with CANNN. BCLS – HCP with annual recertification.

Assets for this position include: Experience in a perioperative setting; Perioperative Nursing Certification program. Preferred but not required upon initial hiring: WHMIS, PALS, ACLS, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Back Injury Prevention Program, EKG interpretation, Fit testing. Upon hiring, the incumbent must complete these certifications and remain current within 12 months of hire.

This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. The ability to communicate in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit,



Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
