Junior Systems Engineer

Seeking a Junior Systems Engineer to join a Backend & Platform Engineering team in Vancouver. This is a excellent opportunity for someone early in their career who is interested in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, automation, backend development, and AI-powered engineering tools .

What you’ll be working on:

- Deploying and supporting backend/platform services on AWS
- Supporting Kubernetes / Amazon EKS and containerized environments
- Building automation using Ansible, scripting, and Infrastructure as Code
- Developing internal tools and services using Node.js, JavaScript & TypeScript
- Monitoring systems, troubleshooting production issues, and performing root cause analysis
- Supporting MongoDB databases, backups, restores, and performance
- Improving CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
- Using AI coding assistants and agents for development, scripting, log analysis, documentation, and operations




- Creating technical documentation and operational runbooks
- Working closely with developers to improve reliability and deployment practices

What we’re looking for:

- 1–3 years of experience in Systems Engineering, DevOps, IT/System Administration, or Backend Development
- Co-op and internship experience counts
- Strong programming/scripting skills, ideally Node.js / JavaScript / TypeScript
- Working knowledge of Linux
- Experience with Git
- Familiarity with REST APIs, networking, and web fundamentals
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable using AI tools or excited to incorporate them into daily engineering work

Nice to have: AWS, Kubernetes/EKS, Docker, MongoDB, Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, Datadog, Bash/Shell scripting, IAM and cloud security fundamentals.
