The team is dedicated to creating proprietary EV components and delivering complete turn-key electrification systems, including battery packs, battery management systems (BMS), charging systems, vehicle controls, power electronics, and supporting mechanical and electrical infrastructure.

Our client is seeking a Systems Engineer to join their Advanced Engineering team. This role focuses on the top-level integration of electric drive systems within prototype vehicles and next-generation mining technologies, with a strong emphasis on mechatronic systems.
Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will support the development and maintenance of system designs for electrification products, including battery packs, BMS, charging systems, and vehicle controls. You will help translate high-level requirements into subsystem and component-level requirements while ensuring system interfaces, safety, traceability, and validation requirements are effectively managed throughout the development lifecycle.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies to support the analysis, development, and maintenance of system designs for electrification products
- Develop, review, decompose, and maintain system, subsystem, and component-level requirements
- Maintain requirements traceability throughout the design, development, and validation lifecycle
- Support the development of system architecture for battery-electric and high-voltage equipment
- Define and manage system interfaces between battery hardware, BMS software, charging equipment, vehicle controllers, and other interconnected systems
- Use requirements and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools such as Polarion, DOORS, or Jama
- Participate in system safety activities, including risk assessments and FMEA
- Support functional safety concept development and alignment with applicable industry standards
- Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, software, safety, and other engineering disciplines to ensure cohesive system integration
- Interpret and work from mechanical, hydraulic, cooling, and electrical schematics as well as functional block diagrams
- Support verification and validation activities to ensure system requirements are successfully achieved
- Maintain accurate technical documentation throughout the development lifecycle
Skills and Qualifications: Must-have:
- Engineering degree, diploma, or similar qualification, preferably in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline
- 2–3+ years of relevant industry experience
- Experience with requirements management tools such as Polarion, DOORS, or Jama
- Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies
- Ability to understand mechanical, hydraulic, cooling, and electrical system schematics and functional block diagrams
- Understanding of vehicle electronics including controllers, circuit protection, power distribution modules, relays, sensors, and actuators
- Understanding of programming logic and how software controls mechatronic systems
- Knowledge of applicable industry standards and safety requirements
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong technical documentation skills
- Robust written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Logical and methodical approach to problem-solving
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with SysML and Model-Based Systems Engineering methodologies
- Experience with EV batteries and high-voltage/high-capacity battery systems
- Understanding of vehicle control logic and software
- Experience with system safety and FMEA
- Knowledge of functional safety standards including ISO 13849 and IEC 61508
- Experience working within electrical, mechanical, software, or safety engineering disciplines
- Experience managing multiple projects, requirements, and priorities simultaneously
To really impress:
- Experience working on electric vehicles, heavy-duty vehicles, mining equipment, or industrial electrification systems
- Strong knowledge of battery packs, BMS, charging systems, and vehicle controllers
- Experience defining interfaces between hardware, software, and mechanical systems
- Experience with SysML, MagicGrid, or Object-Oriented Systems Engineering methodologies
- Scripting or software development experience using Python, JavaScript, or similar
- Strong understanding of functional safety concepts and safety-critical system development
