Our mission is to celebrate the rich coffee traditions of West Africa, the Caribbean, and beyond through innovative, bold, and flavorful beverages. We’re looking for a Lead Barista who is not only passionate about coffee but also excited to share the stories and heritage behind each cup.

Key Responsibilities:
Craft and serve high-quality coffee drinks, with a focus on traditional coffee cultures from Africa, the Caribbean, and the East.
Lead the research and development of current, culturally inspired beverages that reflect Yaya’s Kitchen’s unique vision.
Train, mentor, and support junior baristas, fostering a warm and welcoming team workplace.
Engage with customers to share the stories behind our unique coffee offerings and build connections through hospitality.
Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient coffee station, ensuring adherence to health and safety standards.
Manage inventory, restock supplies,



and maintain coffee equipment in top condition.
Uphold high standards of customer service, including fulfilling guest requests and upselling unique offerings.

YOU BRING WITH YOU:
Experience: At least 2 years as a café barista, with experience leading and developing a team.
Customer Focus: Proven experience in fulfilling guest requests and upselling products.
Certification: Ontario Food Handler Certificate.
Leadership Skills: Ability to supervise and mentor junior team members, maintaining a positive and professional environment.
Passion for Coffee: A genuine love for exploring and sharing coffee traditions from around the world.
Flexibility: Ability to work during café operating hours:
Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday: 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Thursday: 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Monday: Closed

Job Types: Part time, Permanent Pay: $17.50-$19.50 per hour
