TA Responsibilities

- The TA will evaluate student writing assignments according to the expectations outlined in the course syllabus and the requisite technical components associated to the specific assignment they are tasked with grading including, but not limited to, structural coherency, proper grammar and punctuation, correct, consistent and up-to-date formatting of in-text citations and work cited/reference page (depending on whether they use MLA or APA).

The TA will provide feedback on student assignments to help them improve the quality of their writing and skills. The TA (depending on the number of hours they have been allocated), may be tasked with grading assignments such as forum discussions, lecture responses, news releases, and presentations.

The TA will return graded assignments to the instructor in accordance to dates established by the instructor. (although marking must be completed in a timely manner, consideration must be given to ensure TA’s own academic work is prioritized).

The TA will identify and discuss ways students can improve their writing and/or speaking in student assignments with the professor.

Position Requirements

Graduate student/4th year student with strong writing and presentation skills, experience with UR Courses, has taken at least one PR course, and a positive academic record is preferred.

The TA is knowledgeable with updated MLA and APA citing formats (in-text citations and work cited/reference page)

The TA is knowledgeable about various types of writing (for this class, emphasis will be on writing for public relations).





The TA is adept at writing and knowledgeable about the requisite technical components encompassed in quality writing including compelling language, well organized paragraphs that follow in a logically coherent manner, and proper grammar and punctuation.
