Job Summary

Smith Metal Works Ltd. is seeking a skilled Metal Spray Painter / Finisher with a minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in metal finishing. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, spraying, and finishing metal components to high-quality standards for railings, gates, and custom metal products.

Key Responsibilities:
Prepare metal surfaces by cleaning, sanding, grinding, masking, and priming
Mix and apply paints, primers, and coatings using spray equipment (airless, HVLP, or conventional spray and roller)
Apply liquid paint finishes
Inspect finished products to ensure quality, thickness, and appearance standards are met
Perform touch-ups and rework when necessary
Maintain spray booths, guns, and related equipment in valuable working condition
Follow work orders, drawings, and finishing specifications
Ensure proper curing and drying of finished materials
Maintain a clean and organized work area
Follow all company safety procedures and WHMIS guidelines

Requirements:




Minimum 2+ years of proven experience as a metal spray painter or industrial finisher
Experience working with metal railings, gates, aluminum, or steel products preferred
Solid knowledge of surface preparation techniques
Hands-on experience with spray painting equipment (HVLP, airless)
Ability to mix paints and understand coating ratios and thickness requirements
Good attention to detail and quality control
Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or in a team

Assets (Preferred but not required):
Experience in a metal fabrication or railing shop
Forklift or lift equipment experience

Job Type: Full time Pay: $20.00-$27.00 per hour
