Formal post-secondary education in Indigenous studies, social services, health, community development, or a related field may be considered an asset.

Formal education is not necessarily required where the candidate demonstrates strong cultural knowledge, lived experience, traditional knowledge, community recognition, and demonstrated competency relevant to the position.

The Indigenous Cultural Practitioner provides culturally grounded support, guidance, education, and connection to Indigenous clients, families, and community members accessing services through the Mary Berglund Community Health Centre Hub in Ignace, Dryden Family Health Team in Dryden or the Points North Family Health Team in Vermillion Bay. Travel between communities will be a requirement of this position.

The Indigenous Cultural Practitioner contributes to a culturally secure, welcoming, respectful, and inclusive healthcare workplace. The position supports the integration of Indigenous perspectives, cultural practices, traditional knowledge, and holistic approaches to health and wellbeing,



while respecting the distinct roles and responsibilities of healthcare professionals, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community members.

The Indigenous Cultural Practitioner works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team and community partners to reduce barriers to healthcare, strengthen cultural connection, support client self-determination, and improve access to culturally appropriate services.

The position operates in accordance with applicable Indigenous cultural protocols, organizational policies, privacy legislation, client consent requirements, and the practitioner's own cultural knowledge, teachings, and authority.

Pay: $32.33-$40.41 per hour
