Department of Social Supports and Well-Being

Reporting to the Client Services Manager, the Social Worker I will work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team assisting clients with complex needs. Specifically, this position interviews clients to assess needs; provides counselling support; assists clients in navigating complex support services and systems; works collaboratively with Client Services Officers, Career Development Specialists and community stakeholders; accepts referrals from government agencies and community partners; and provides assistance and information pertaining to procedures to pursue child support.

Screening Criteria

- Completion of a Bachelor of Social Work degree
- Clinical social work experience
- Experience completing Bio/Psycho/Social assessments to determine client needs
- Experience providing general counselling and referral services
- Experience coordinating services between agencies (asset)

Conditions of Offer

- Recent and satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from local police
- Recent and satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Query
- Registration as a qualified social worker with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Social Workers (NLCSW)

Conditions of Acceptance

- Acknowledge requirement for day travel (occasional)
- Acknowledge requirement for access to transportation or use of a personal vehicle
