Industrial Painter / Paint Trainer – 3-Month Contract

BIK Hydraulics / BIK Boom Trucks

Etobicoke, ON

$35–$45 per hour (Based on Experience)

Temporary – 3-Month Contract

About BIK Hydraulics

BIK Hydraulics / BIK Boom Trucks is a family-owned and operated company that has been building and servicing boom trucks since 1990. We specialize in custom-engineered boom truck packages for industries including precast concrete, forming and foundations, building supply, tree care, sign installation, and heavy lifting.

Our Toronto facility builds complete truck packages, including the fabrication and installation of custom steel decks and truck-mounted equipment.

We have recently added a dedicated paint booth to our production operation and are looking for an experienced Industrial Painter for a 3-month contract.

The Position

This is a hands-on painting and training position.

We are looking for an experienced painter who can professionally paint our fabricated steel truck decks and components while also training our existing painter on the complete painting process.

Our decks vary considerably in size, with many approximately 7–25+ feet long, depending on the truck build.

The goal of this 3-month position is to help us establish a consistent, professional paint process and leave our existing painter fully trained and capable of producing high-quality work independently.

Responsibilities

- Prepare fabricated steel truck decks and components for painting
- Spray paint large steel decks and fabricated truck components in our paint booth
- Apply primers, paints, and industrial coatings to achieve a durable, professional finish

- Properly mix and prepare paint products according to manufacturer specifications
- Set up and adjust spray guns and painting equipment
- Identify and correct issues such as runs, dry spray, overspray, uneven coverage, poor adhesion, and other finish defects
- Train our existing painter on proper surface preparation and cleaning
- Train our painter on paint mixing, spray-gun setup, spraying technique, flash times, coating application, and finishing
- Teach proper masking and preparation techniques
- Establish an efficient workflow for painting large fabricated truck decks
- Help develop a consistent painting process that our team can continue after the contract is completed
- Inspect completed work and identify areas requiring correction
- Maintain a clean and organized paint booth
- Follow all required safety, ventilation, and PPE procedures

What We're Looking For We are looking for someone with strong hands-on industrial painting experience, ideally involving:

- Heavy trucks
- Truck bodies and decks
- Heavy equipment
- Trailers
- Cranes or construction equipment
- Large fabricated steel components

The ideal candidate understands the complete painting process — from bare fabricated steel through preparation, primer, paint application, and final finish — and can teach those skills to another employee.

Qualifications

- Several years of professional industrial spray-painting experience
- Experience painting large steel or heavy-equipment components
- Strong knowledge of surface preparation and coating application
- Experience with primers and industrial paint systems
- Strong spray-gun setup and application skills
- Ability to troubleshoot and correct paint defects
- Knowledge of proper paint booth procedures and safety requirements
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to effectively train and coach another painter
- Heavy equipment, truck, trailer, or commercial vehicle painting experience is a strong asset

Compensation & Contract Pay: $35–$45 per hour, based on experience

Contract Length: 3 months

This is a temporary Part-time position. We are willing to pay toward the top of the range for a highly experienced candidate who can help us establish the proper painting process and successfully train our existing employee.

Why Join BIK?

This is an opportunity to bring your experience into an established boom-truck manufacturer and have a direct impact on our production process.

Rather than simply filling a production painting position, we are looking for an experienced professional who can help us establish a high-quality, repeatable painting process for the custom truck equipment we manufacture.

Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour
