Providence Centre is a licensed supportive living and accredited long-term care facility. It was built in 1965 by the Sisters of Providence and is primarily the home of the Sisters.
Providence
Centre sits on a 25-acre property with beautiful grounds, a chapel, and an oratory to the Mary Mother of Sorrows. Dietary, housekeeping, linen and maintenance services are provided in-house.

Providence Centre is looking for a Temporary Part time, Health Care Aide to deliver nursing care to our residents. Successful candidate will be reporting to the Nursing Manager.
Job Status: Temporary Part time Days and Weekends until the incumbent returns
Job Availability: Immediately
Hours of Work: 48 hours bi-weekly (8 shifts), Shift 7AM-1PM
Job duties include but not limited to:
- Provide resident focused personal care
- Adhere to policies and procedures as outlined by Providence Centre
- Adhere to Continuing Care Health Service Standards, Licensing and Accommodation Standards and other relevant legislation
- Follow shift routines as assigned with adaptation as required, and as assigned by the RN/LPN
- Promote residents’ participation, choice, and control in meeting own health care needs
- Identify and communicate ethical issues and practice issues to the immediate supervisor/nursing manager
- Document timely,
accurate reports of resident care information in accordance with Providence Centre policy and regulatory requirements
- Contribute to care plan in consultation with team members
- Ensure assigned care and treatments are carried out and maintained as ordered
- Participate in resident care conferences and interdisciplinary team meetings
- Participate in providing home-like environment and encourages residents to create their own
- Communicate information about resident’s personal care to immediate supervisor by monitoring, documenting, and reporting relevant information and resident’s altered health patterns to the RN/LPN
- Assist residents at mealtime as required and monitor nutrition and hydration
- Organize residents’ clothing as required, including sorting for laundry
- Assist residents with physical requirements and activities of daily living
- Adhere to the principles of a safe, healthy, respectful workplace and to all safe work practices/procedures of Providence Centre, wearing PPE as needed, reporting substandard workplace conditions/practices, and reporting related injury promptly
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Possess a Health Care Aide certificate from an accredited educational institution
- At least 1 year of experience in a continuing care facility or other health care related facility is preferred
- Training in WHMIS, first aid and mask fitting is an asset
- Eligible to work in Canada
- Have transparent criminal record and vulnerable sector check
Education:
- AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)
