The City of Humboldt is hiring a full time Deputy Fire Chief to lead emergency response and manage fire prevention strategies. This key role strengthens the Fire Department’s operational effectiveness and community relations. As part of the Department of Protective Services, this senior position requires extensive experience in both administration and emergency response.
You'll be involved in policy development, compliance with regulations, and public education programs aimed at fire safety and preparedness. This role also supports cooperative initiatives with other departments and regional partners. Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage emergency response and operations
Develop policies regarding fire prevention and inspections
Coordinate public education and fire safety initiatives
Manage budget and asset allocation for the department
Collaborate with regional partners on emergency planning Requirements:
Membership in a Fire Department is required
Level I Fire Instructor Certification and Level I Building Inspector License preferred
At least 5 years of supervisory experience in fire service
Robust knowledge of firefighting and emergency service practices
