Transdev Canada is hiring Casual Transit Operators in Duncan.

As a Transit Bus Operator, you will be responsible for safely transporting passengers on public transit vehicles while providing a high level of customer service. This is a casual, unionized position based in Duncan, BC.

Your role

- Safely operate transit buses on assigned fixed routes, following schedules, Dispatch instructions, company policies, and all applicable regulations.
- Operate vehicles in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.
- Provide courteous and professional service to passengers, including answering questions and assisting with fares, directions, and general inquiries.
- Assist passengers with accessibility needs, including individuals using mobility devices, as required.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure vehicles are safe, clean, and operational.
- Maintain a clean and professional vehicle interior and exterior.
- Communicate clearly and promptly with Dispatch regarding delays, route issues, mechanical concerns, incidents, and accidents.
- Accurately complete required reports related to trips, passengers, incidents, and accidents.
- Operate onboard systems and equipment, including fare boxes, destination signs, and other transit technology.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor while upholding Transdev's standards, policies, and procedures.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, customer service, and effective communication.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support operational needs.

Your profile

- Valid Class 2 BC Driver's Licence with Air Brake endorsement.
- Minimum two years of driving experience.
- Safe driving record with no recent serious violations or preventable accidents.
- Ability to manage challenging situations with patience and professionalism.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to interact professionally and respectfully with passengers from diverse backgrounds.
- Previous passenger transportation experience is an asset.
- Familiarity with Duncan's geography and road network is an asset.
- Ability to learn and follow fixed routes, schedules, and Dispatch instructions.
- Comfortable using onboard technology and systems.
- Medical assessment, Drug and alcohol test, Criminal Record & Vulnerable Sector Check, and Trainability evaluation.

Your location

- Casual, unionized position based in Duncan, BC.
- Various start and end times, Sunday through Saturday.
- Flexible availability is required, including weekends and varying shift times.
