TRANSPORT TRUCK DRIVER

Salary: $37.75 hourly / 40 to 44 hours per week

Terms of employment: Permanent employment and Full time

May work at: Early morning, Evening, Morning, Night, Day, Weekend and Overtime might be needed

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience

Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years

Work Location: Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.

Tasks

· Calculate the cost of truck repairs and new parts if needed

· Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions

· Address customers' complaints or concerns

· Coach colleagues on new methods or work techniques

· Professionalism in customer service

· Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy

· Load and unload goods

· Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials

· Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment

· Pay and receive payments for goods

· Perform brake adjustments

· Perform emergency roadside repairs

· Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle

· Perform preventive maintenance

· Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption

· Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo

Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses: must possess Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi trailer trucks)



and Class 3/3F/DF Licence (trailer truck, vehicles with more than 3 axles)

Documentation knowledge

· Bill of lading

· Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip)

· Maintenance and repair reports

· Trip reports

Type of trucking and equipment: Straight truck (4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ with 3+ axles)

Communication systems experience

· Citizens band (CB) radio

· Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment

· Trip recorder (on-board computer)

Transportation/travel experience: Local, Long-haul, Provincial/territorial and Short-haul

Security and safety: Basic security clearance; Driver's validity licence check

Transportation/travel information: Travel expenses paid by employer; Valid driver's licence; Willing to travel for extended periods; Willing to travel overnight
