Apex Trailer Group is hiring an experienced Transport Refrigeration Technician / Reefer Technician to join our mobile service team in Calgary, Alberta.

If you have experience diagnosing and repairing Thermo King and Carrier reefer units, we want to hear from you.

We are open to qualified technicians from Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and across Canada, and relocation assistance may be available for the right candidate.

This is a hands-on mobile position for a technician who knows how to diagnose problems properly, work independently, and take ownership of the repair from start to finish.

The Position

As a Mobile Transport Refrigeration Technician with Apex Trailer Group, you will operate a fully equipped company service truck and provide maintenance, diagnostics, and repair services at customer yards and roadside breakdown locations throughout Calgary and the surrounding area.

You will work primarily on transport refrigeration equipment, including Thermo King and Carrier units, and handle a mix of electrical, mechanical, diesel engine, and refrigeration-related repairs.

This is not a position for someone who needs constant supervision. We are looking for an experienced technician who can troubleshoot efficiently, communicate professionally with customers, and get equipment back on the road.

Responsibilities

- Diagnose and repair transport refrigeration systems, including Thermo King and Carrier equipment.
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, and diesel engine issues.
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and scheduled service.
- Respond to customer breakdowns and service calls using a company-provided mobile service truck.
- Complete accurate work orders, inspection reports,



parts requests, and repair documentation.
- Communicate clearly with fleet managers, dispatchers, and drivers regarding repair status and timelines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional service vehicle.
- Follow Apex Trailer Group safety procedures and Alberta OH&S; requirements while working in customer yards and roadside environments.
- Take ownership of repairs and provide customers with reliable, professional service.

Qualifications

Required:

- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience working on transport refrigeration equipment.
- Experience with Thermo King and Carrier Transicold units
- Strong electrical diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- Robust mechanical aptitude and ability to read wiring diagrams and schematics.
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence with a clean driver's abstract.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work outdoors year-round in Calgary weather.
- Professional attitude and strong customer-service skills.
- Own a comprehensive set of mechanic's hand tools.

Preferred:

- Transport Refrigeration Technician Journeyperson/Journeyman certification.
- Refrigeration-related trade certification or equivalent industry training.
- Thermo King or Carrier factory training.
- Class 5 driver's licence.
- Experience working in a mobile service or fleet-maintenance environment.
