Magna Mining Inc. is a Sudbury-focused, base metal exploration and development company.
Magna Mining’s key objective is to become the next nickel and copper producing company in Canada by executing a growth strategy that is focused exclusively on the historic nickel producing district of Sudbury, ON.
We intend to achieve this objective via the creation of a Sudbury focused, hub and spoke production model, with our existing Shakespeare project as the hub. Job Description The Supervisor, Underground Operations isresponsible for delivering sustainable and reliable mine operations for Levack Mine. This includes supervising underground crews,managing resources, and promoting a safety-first culture.
All Magna Mining team members are expected to work collaboratively with others, lead the way in health and safety, act with honesty, integrity, and foster an entrepreneurial spirit in pursuit of excellence.
Responsibilities:
Supervise day-to-dayunderground mining activities including drilling, blasting, mucking, and groundsupport installation.
Monitor compliance withmine plans, production targets, and safety standards.
Ensure safe workpractices are followed and that all workers comply with regulatory and companypolicies (OHSA, MTCU, WSIB, etc.).
Conduct daily pre-shiftsafety meetings, inspections, and workplace exams.
Assign tasks to crewmembers based on skills, qualifications, and production priorities.
Report and investigateincidents, near misses, and hazards. Implement corrective actions.
Coordinate maintenanceand use of underground mobile equipment and tools.
Maintain accurate recordsof shift activities,
production data, equipment use, and timekeeping.
Communicate effectivelywith technical services, maintenance, and surface operations teams.
Train, mentor, andevaluate underground personnel and apprentices.
Promote a proactivesafety culture across all underground operations and lead by example.
Conduct and participatein safety audits, inspections, incident investigations, and emergency responsedrills.
Control operational costsand labor efficiency.
Requirements Qualifications: Formal Education, Certifications or Equivalents
Grade 12 education orequivalent.
Post-secondaryeducation in a mining related field is considered anasset.
7 ormore years of mine operations experience.
2 ormore years of experience in a leadership role.
Excellentleadership, communication and organization skills.
Soundknowledge of underground mining methods.
Familiaritywith mining regulations, occupational health and safety practices and emergencyresponse.
Provenability to successfully lead teams in a agile and physically demandingenvironment.
Establishedanalytical and problem-solving skills.
