Magna Mining Inc. is a Sudbury-focused, base metal exploration and development company.
Magna Mining’s key objective is to become the next nickel and copper producing company in Canada by executing a growth strategy that is focused exclusively on the historic nickel producing district of Sudbury, ON.
We intend to achieve this objective via the creation of a Sudbury focused, hub and spoke production model, with our existing Shakespeare project as the hub. Job Description The Chief Mine Engineer is responsible for sustainable and reliable mine engineering, planning and design to support safe and efficient underground operations at Magna Mining’s McCreedy West mine.
All Magna Mining team members areexpected to work collaboratively with others, lead the way in health and safety,act with honesty, integrity, and foster an entrepreneurial spirit in pursuit of excellence.
Oversee the preparation of short, medium, and long-term mineplans.
Ensure integration of geotechnical, ventilation, andhydrogeological considerations into mine design.
Collaborate with geology and operations to ensure mine plansalign with resource models and production targets.
Manage mine development projects from concept to execution.
Oversee scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation for minedevelopment and related infrastructure.
Conduct risk assessments and implement controls to ensuresafe development.
Monitor and improve operational efficiency and developmentperformance against KPIs.
Interface with operations, maintenance, and otherdepartments to coordinate development and production.
Provide technical support for daily mining activities andtroubleshoot operational challenges.
Ensure all engineering designs and plans comply withregulatory and environmental standards.
Prepare and present regular reports on mine plans, costtracking, and project milestones.
Liaise with external consultants, contractors, andregulatory agencies as needed.
Supervise and mentor a team of mine technical services supportstaff.
Requirements Qualifications: Formal Education, Certifications or Equivalents
Bachelor’s degree inMining Engineering or related field.
ProfessionalEngineering designation in Ontario or eligibility to obtain P.Eng in Ontario isrequired.
8 or more years of experiencein underground mine engineering.
3 or more years in a leadershiprole.
Expertise in mineplanning software.
Effective leadership andcommunication skills.
Sound knowledge ofunderground mining methods (especially ramp access and lateral development).
Familiarity withregulatory frameworks and safety practices in underground mining.
Budgeting, cost control,and project management expertise.
