As part of the Veterinary team, the Associate University Veterinarian provides critical veterinary care and consultation within the Animal Care and Use program, ensuring high standards for research animals.
Collaborating with various stakeholders, you will promote best practices and maintain compliance with industry regulations while fostering a compassionate workplace for animal welfare. Key Responsibilities:
Provide veterinary care for diverse research species
Conduct clinical evaluations and diagnostic testing
Maintain biosecurity protocols and colony health
Advise on humane animal models and procedures
Assist in developing training programs for staff Requirements:
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree
Active licensure with the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association
Five years of relevant clinical experience preferred
Knowledge of CCAC Guidelines and CALAM Standards
