St. Francis Memorial Hospital is a 20 bed, fully accredited facility, offering medical, and complex continuing care. Special inpatient services include palliative care, diabetes clinic, telemedicine and Cardiac Rehabilitation. A two bed Hospice is directly down the hall from our inpatient unit. The hospital has an extensive ambulatory care program with over 10,000 emergency visits per year. A six-station satellite hemodialysis unit is located at the St. Francis Memorial Hospital in Barry’s Bay.

Come join us! As a result of internal movement at SFMH, we are hiring a casual Unit Clerk.
Pay Grid: $28.09 - $29.59/hour The Unit Clerk performs duties which facilitate the efficient operation of the clerical portion of the nursing station; deals with the patients, families, staff and the public in a professional, polite manner; and undertakes clerical/patient duties as assigned. Reports directly to the Unit Nurse Manager.
Qualifications:
- College certificate as a Hospital Ward Clerk, Nursing clerk or equivalent college certification preferred.
- Excellent computer skills including MS word processing, spreadsheets, internet use and ability to easily learn program specific software
- Experience in electronic charting (EPIC) is an asset
- Ability to operate within an internal and external network computer system
- Ability to work under conditions of frequent interruption
- Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously and to meet deadlines
- Excellent telephone etiquette
- Excellent interpersonal skills are essential
- Ability to work with the public effectively and courteously
- Ability to communicate effectively and to maintain good working relationships with nursing personnel, medical staff and other health care professionals
- Ability to work with accuracy and initiative
- Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple assignments simultaneously
- Ability to handle confidential/sensitive information with discretion
- Ability to adapt in a changing work workplace
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job. The work requires occasional lifting less than 10kg. and moderate bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, reaching, walking, climbing and standing for periods.
