We are looking to hire an Accounting Clerk in our mid-sized law firm located in the heart of downtown Winnipeg.

General Accounting Clerk The role will be primarily responsible for ensuring that all payables are appropriately handled and paid on a timely basis. The successful candidate will be part of a 3 to 4 member team that must work together in delivering and providing service to a number of stakeholders. The ability to assess requirements and set priorities as they arise is an key skill the candidate must possess. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Receives and processes all vendor invoices according to terms
Prepares and reports on net retail taxes payable
Ensures that client file disbursements are appropriately handled
Reviews and reconciles transactions charged to the Firm’s credit card accounts




Responds to requests for information or confirmation
Ensures various reports are generated and distributed on a timely basis
Assists with the preparation of all month-end / year-end account reconciliations and statements
Other duties as assigned or necessary

Qualifications
A minimum of 1 to 2 years of relevant experience within a busy accounting office environment
Completion of a business/accounting certificate program
Superior ability to communicate with lawyers, staff, clients and vendors when making or responding to queries
Previous hands on experience with business accounting software and MS Office
