Ponoka Hospital and Care Centre has an prospect for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team. As an LPN at our rural hospital, you will work in a variety of areas: this includes a 10 bed ER, a 19-bed acute care unit, a 10 bed Goal (Goal oriented active living) unit, and our busy labor and delivery area. As an LPN working at our facility, you will be a vital part of our collaborative health care team. Previous experience will be valuable in transitioning to the Rural Nurse role; however, you will be provided with mentorship and education opportunities to increase competence and confidence in the rural nurse role. You will be expected to provide secure and competent care to our patients in a collaborative, family centered care approach. As a member of our team, you will be flexible in what area of the hospital you work in as priorities will change rapidly between each unit. Ponoka, which means Elk in Blackfoot serves a large First Nations community. Our town is located along Highway 2 in the Battle River Valley within an hour drive to major cities. Our community provides a great opportunity for families, adventurists, and people wanting a rural life

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN),



you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. You will play a key role in providing secure, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

CTAS- Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale certification in the last 2 years. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Neonatal Resuscitation Program CAM-A, CAM-B, Lead 2
