Salary: Up to $75K
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a full caseload of plaintiff tort and accident benefits files from intake through to resolution
- Assist lawyers with all aspects of litigation and file management
- Draft and prepare legal correspondence, pleadings, affidavits, mediation materials, and other legal documents
- Coordinate discoveries, examinations, mediations, motions, and other litigation dates
- Maintain limitation dates, deadlines, calendars, and follow-up systems
- Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, insurance companies, experts, and other third parties
- Prepare and organize productions, undertakings, medical records, and other relevant documentation
- Assist with settlement preparation and reporting
- Maintain accurate and organized electronic and physical files
- Provide general support to lawyers and contribute to the smooth day-to-day operation of the practice
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Law Clerk in plaintiff tort and accident benefits
- Strong understanding of Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure and litigation processes
- Experience managing plaintiff-side litigation files independently
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong client-service skills and a professional, personable approach
- Comfortable working independently while also being a collaborative team player
- Proficiency with legal software and Microsoft Office
- Law Clerk designation or relevant legal education is an asset
