The Opportunity:
We're looking to fill an opening for a Senior Specialist, Tax & Fund Reporting, to join our Fund Reporting team.
Reporting to the Manager, Fund Reporting & Administration, the Senior Specialist, Tax & Fund Reporting is responsible for leading the taxation strategy of a group of mutual funds, implementing new tax regulations, oversight of fund distributions and tax filings, and providing tax support for fund events such as new fund launches and mergers. The Senior Specialist will also assist the Fund Reporting team with reports such as financial statements and MRFPs.

What your day looks like:
Oversight of fund distributions, T3 factors, tax returns and assessments, foreign tax returns, PFIC reporting, withholding tax reclaims, corporate actions, EIFEL, HST
Provide tax support for fund events such as mergers, rebalancings, and new fund launches. Independently analyze alternative tax strategies to optimize tax efficiency and present recommendations to executives
Monitor new Canadian and international tax regulations and coordinate implementation
Provide tax disclosure for regulatory documents such as prospectuses and management information circulars
Assist the Fund Reporting team with fund reports such as financial statements, MRFPs, QPDs
Requirements
Your experience and skills:
University degree or college diploma in a relevant field is required
Professional accounting designation (CPA) is an asset
Strong working knowledge of investment fund taxation; minimum of 5 year's experience in tax reporting and advisory within mutual fund/asset management industries
Big 4 experience an asset
Strong analytical skills; the ability to problem-solve, detail oriented, and able to work independently
Works well with internal departments and various external stakeholders such as third-party service providers and auditors
Ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Fluent communication skills in English are required and bilingual skills in French are an asset

Salary
This position is posted with an expected salary range of $93,000 - $113,000 CAD annually. Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate and the requirements of the position.
