Become a Diversion Support Worker at Our Place Peel and empower youth aged 16-24 facing homelessness in the Peel Region. This challenging role provides essential support and diversions to stable housing alternatives.
Your mission will be to meet with youth entering the shelter system, assess their needs, and explore solutions to avoid homelessness. By utilizing evidence-based practices, you will foster connections with community services and ensure continuity of care. This full-time day/evening position requires a strong commitment to client-centered support and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct assessments to identify secure housing options
• Mediate conflicts between youth, families, and landlords
• Create and maintain community partnerships for resource access
• Support group facilitation for emotional skill-building
• Prepare monthly reports for program development and evaluation
Requirements:
• Degree in social services or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
• Expertise in mental health and crisis intervention
• Commitment to anti-oppression and cultural competency
• Valid driver’s license and insurance required
