Position Overview:

The Vertical Farm Technician is responsible for supporting the daily operations of a controlled-environment agriculture facility. This role involves planting, monitoring, harvesting, and packaging crops grown in vertical farming systems while ensuring optimal plant health, productivity, and food safety standards. The technician works with hydroponic or aeroponic systems, environmental controls, Grow lighting, and farm management software to maintain efficient crop production.

The Food Operations Support role is critical to the daily success of the farm. As operations support, the role will be involved in all manual areas of farming from seeding, weeding, maintain crops, packing and deliveries. This role requires the use of on-site farm equipment as well as daily data collection.

Key Responsibilities

- Monitor and maintain hydroponic/aeroponic growing systems.
- Seed, transplant, harvest, and package crops.
- Track plant growth, nutrient levels, and environmental conditions. In emergency situations may require weekend work.
- Operate and maintain farm equipment and lighting systems.
- Follow food safety and quality-control procedures.




- Ensure cleaning, sanitation, and inventory management.
- Record production data and report issues to Food Operations Manager.
- Assist Food Operations Manager with packing baskets, wholesale orders, and inventory.
- Clean and organize baskets, packing bins, fridges, and packhouse areas
- Maintain FIFO system in fridges and ensure cleanliness of packing spaces
- Assist in Monitor inventory of packing supplies and maintain spreadsheets for order tracking
- Assist in organizing products for retail and events
- Assist with setup and teardown of farmstand and community events when necessary.
- Remove garbage and recycling from packhouse and farm stand.
- Maintain cool bot and fridges, including weekly sorting and cleaning
- Participate in health inspections and ensure environmentally friendly practices
- Assist Food Operations Manager when required with ordering products from local farms and verify invoicing accuracy
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and local farms,
- Provide insights on farm offerings and strategies to improve sourcing practices

Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in agriculture, horticulture, greenhouse operations, or food production is an asset.
- Ability to lift up to 25 kg (55 lbs).
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.
- Solid attention to detail and teamwork skills.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and monitoring systems.

Pay: $18.95-$22.00 per hour
