Who we are

Kilmer Group is a multi-generational platform for business development and investment, built on operational excellence, long-term stewardship, and trusted relationships. Headquartered in Toronto, we invest across three core sectors: Private Equity, Infrastructure & Real Estate, and Sports & Media, partnering with exceptional management teams to build and grow enduring businesses.

Kilmer Group has built a reputation for disciplined investment, active ownership, and creating long-term value. Our approach is grounded in partnership, integrity, and a commitment to building businesses that generate lasting impact for our partners, stakeholders, and the communities we serve.

Who we need

Reporting to the CFO, we are hiring a Vice President, Finance to play a key leadership role across Kilmer Group's finance function. As our new Vice President, Finance, you will combine financial stewardship with strategic partnership, helping guide decisions that support the continued growth and evolution of a diversified investment platform. Working closely with the CFO, senior leaders, and investment teams, you will oversee financial reporting, treasury, budgeting, investment portfolio reporting, and governance while providing the financial insight that supports investment decisions, business performance, and long-term value creation.

You will lead a finance team and contribute across a broad range of initiatives, from evaluating acquisitions and investments to strengthening reporting, improving processes, and building the financial capabilities and infrastructure needed to support the organization's continued growth.

This is an existing, full-time opportunity based in the Toronto office, working onsite five days per week.

What’s in it for you?

Strategic influence. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will act as a trusted partner to the executive leadership team, contributing financial insight that informs investment decisions, capital allocation, and the long-term direction of Kilmer Group.

Breadth and exposure. This is an opportunity to apply your expertise across a diverse investment portfolio rather than within a single operating business. You will work on initiatives spanning financial reporting, tax, budgeting, long-term forecasting, governance, and business performance.

Build what's next. Technology and AI are transforming the finance function, and Kilmer Group is evolving with it - strengthening reporting, deepening financial analysis, and modernizing our processes to harness these new tools. You will help build current capabilities, grow a high-performing team, and shape a financial foundation built for long-term success.

As our new VP Finance, you will

- Lead the finance function. You will oversee accounting, treasury, financial reporting, and cash management across a complex, multi-entity organization, ensuring strong controls, effective budgeting, and timely, accurate reporting. As a trusted partner to the CFO,

you will provide the financial leadership and operational oversight that enables the team to deliver with confidence while supporting the organization's growth objectives.
- Provide strategic financial insight. You will translate financial information into meaningful analysis that supports executive decision-making. Working closely with the CFO and senior leaders, you will develop reporting and insights that strengthen planning, support investment decisions, and provide a clearer understanding of business performance across the organization.
- Support investments and corporate growth. You will partner with the investment team on acquisitions, portfolio reporting, valuations, due diligence, and other strategic initiatives. You will work closely with leaders across Kilmer Group and its portfolio companies, providing financial guidance and building trusted relationships that support long-term value creation.
- Lead and develop the team. You will mentor, coach, and support the continued growth of the finance team while fostering a collaborative, accountable, and low-ego environment. You will build capability and create opportunities for continuous learning amongst the team.

You bring

- The leadership. You have experience leading high-performing finance teams and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. You are a trusted advisor who can balance strategic priorities with operational execution while building strong relationships across the organization.
- The foundation. You are a CPA, CA with experience gained in both public accounting and industry, ideally including a Big 4 audit environment. You bring strong technical knowledge of ASPE and IFRS, investment holding company accounting, including asset valuations and investee reporting. You have experience with compliance and risk to ensure adherence with tax laws, accounting standards and internal controls. You know how to apply this technical foundation in a commercial environment, combining accounting expertise with sound strategic and business judgment.

- The financial expertise. You bring experience across financial reporting, treasury, budgeting, cash management, tax and corporate governance within complex organizations. You have worked with investment portfolios, valuations, transactions, or corporate development activities and are comfortable partnering with senior leaders to support investment decisions and long-term value creation.
- The analytical mindset. You are naturally curious and continuously look for ways to improve how work gets done. You leverage data and technology to strengthen reporting and decision-making,

and you are excited by the opportunity to modernize finance through automation and the thoughtful application of AI.

- The communication skills. You can translate complex financial information into clear recommendations that support decision-making. Whether working with executives, portfolio company leaders, auditors, or external advisors, you build credibility through sound judgment, strong communication, and a collaborative approach.
