Overview:

Our client is seeking an Intermediate Project Manager to support a high-priority API integration program within a complex financial services technology environment. This role will focus on downstream project delivery across multiple technology and business teams connected to core API applications supporting client-facing digital banking and payment workflows.

The successful candidate will act as the primary PM for downstream delivery coordination, ensuring integration teams remain aligned, dependencies are tracked, risks and blockers are escalated appropriately, and stakeholders receive clear, accurate, and timely communication. This is a strong intermediate / senior-leaning PM role suited to someone who has delivered true integration projects and can operate effectively in a high-pressure, business-sensitive environment.

Responsibilities:

Manage downstream project delivery across multiple teams connected to core API applications and payment-related transaction flows.

Coordinate day-to-day activities across 3-4 downstream technology teams, ensuring workstreams remain on track against delivery milestones.

Partner with the Technology Program Manager, delivery leads, business stakeholders, integration teams, and technical teams to support program execution.

Track and manage cross-team dependencies, blockers, risks, issues, and decisions across API, integration, data, reporting, and downstream application teams.

Facilitate daily standups, working sessions, status meetings, and project governance forums as required.

Provide clear and concise project status updates, including progress, risks, blockers, decisions required, and mitigation plans.

Support planning and execution for a major deployment targeted for the Summer 2027 timeframe.

Coordinate downstream readiness activities, including integration readiness, testing coordination, implementation planning, operational readiness, and release support.





Work with teams supporting data repositories, regulatory reporting, financial reporting, implementation-fee reporting, reconciliation, and end-of-day balancing processes.

Maintain project plans, RAID logs, action registers, dependency trackers, and project status reporting.

Support monthly forecasting, budget tracking, variance awareness, and coordination with external or shared-service teams.

Escalate delivery risks early and appropriately, while helping teams stay focused on practical resolution.

Communicate carefully with business stakeholders in a sensitive, revenue-impacting program environment where messaging accuracy is critical.

Must-Haves:

6+ years of project management experience within banking, financial services, payments, or complex enterprise technology environments.

Strong hands-on experience managing integration-heavy technology projects.

Experience working directly with integration teams, downstream application teams, technical delivery teams, and business stakeholders.

Proven ability to manage cross-team dependencies, project risks, blockers, timelines, and delivery execution.

Experience supporting API, middleware, backend platform, data integration, or system-to-system delivery initiatives.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, concise, business-appropriate updates.

Ability to operate in a sensitive stakeholder environment where unclear communication can create unnecessary escalation.

Experience with project governance, RAID management, status reporting, issue tracking, action follow-up, and delivery coordination.

Working knowledge of Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery models.

Experience with project financial basics, including budget tracking, monthly forecasting, variance awareness, and coordination with external teams.





Strong critical-thinking skills and ability to learn quickly in a complex technology environment.

Experience using tools such as Jira, Confluence, MS Project, Clarity, Planview, SharePoint, or similar project delivery/governance tools.

Nice-to-Haves:

Prior experience supporting payments, digital banking, online banking, commercial banking, or transaction-processing platforms.

Exposure to payment initiation, notifications, transaction data flows, downstream reporting, reconciliation, or financial reporting systems.

Experience with data repository, data migration, regulatory reporting, financial reporting, or end-of-day balancing teams.

Cloud delivery or cloud migration experience, especially where APIs or downstream systems connect cloud and legacy/on-prem platforms.

Experience supporting high-visibility or revenue-generating banking technology programs.

Familiarity with production readiness, release planning, implementation support, SIT/UAT coordination, and operational handoff.

Prior experience working with large banks or highly regulated enterprise environments.

Exposure to North American payment rails or payment modernization initiatives.

Ability to push back diplomatically when project management discipline, timelines, ownership, or governance expectations are unclear.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a strong intermediate Project Manager who has worked close to the actual delivery of integration projects, not just at a high-level reporting layer. They should be comfortable working with technical teams daily, tracking moving pieces across multiple downstream groups, and translating complex delivery status into explicit updates for business and technology stakeholders.

This person should be structured, proactive, detail-oriented, and calm under pressure. They must be able to identify risks early, elevate blockers appropriately, communicate with precision, and keep teams moving without creating unnecessary noise or confusion.
