Job Summary: Service is the foundation of everything we stand for at Vail Resorts and our Retail Management are no exception to this experience of a lifetime. The ideal candidate will be responsible for hiring, training, staffing, scheduling, financial management, sales staff supervision and overall day-to-day store management. This role is responsible for sales generation and growth, inventory control, controllable expenses, cash management, merchandising, loss prevention and store appearance. Candidates must be passionate about driving high level guest service standards, leading a team and being accountable to the results

Job Responsibilities: Sales Drive the highest level of sales and service culture within the store with focus on enhancing and optimizing revenue opportunities
Generate sales though a demonstrated professional standard of guest service
Evaluate sales trends and create methods for sales growth
Guest Experience Drive a culture of service excellence with a focus on ensuring every guest has the experience of a lifetime
Develop staff in demonstrating the ‘GUIDE’ experience with every guest, every time

Ensure that all the store team are given the opportunity in performance improvement, and development goals are created for growth
Demonstrate comfort, adaptability and out-front leadership of all day-to-day operations and seasonal store set-ups and ramp-downs
Develop a robust talent development program for Assistant Managers and Supervisors with a focus on personal and professional empowerment
Recruit, hire, train, coach, and maintain a quality store team
Drive a store culture of employee engagement through recognizing and maintaining a positive work environment
Conduct performance appraisals and coach development of staff on a regular basis
Drive excellence in all areas of store operational standards
Provide training resources in POS, product knowledge, guest service, resort information, and sales
Coordinate ASTM testing and binding certification training
Ability to recognize corrective action opportunities, and ability to demonstrate accountability and present coaching discussions
Successfully drive an engaged and effective team
Communication Ensure that all time sensitive assignments are completed and clearly communicated in a timely manner
Policy Ensure that all Whistler Blackcomb and Vail Resorts standard operating procedures are adhered to on a consistent basis
Ensure the store is aligned with Whistler Blackcomb and VRR policies & objectives
Lead by example and administer company policies and guidelines
Maintain all company paperwork according to policies and standards
Merchandising Maintain store merchandising standards directed by the Merchandise Specialist
Maintain close, collaborative relationships with our Product Exit Strategist, Merchandisers and Buyers
Ensure all sale signage, price adjustments and other promotional fixtures are executed in a timely manner as directed by the Product Exit Strategist, Buyers and Merchandise Specialis
Inventory Management & Loss Prevention Implement all LP measures & practices. Adhere to all preventive policies and ensure buy in from store teams
Coordinate receipt and transfer of all rental equipment and retail inventory
Participate in physical inventories to help ensure inventory accuracy
Manage inventory control and meet or exceed inventory goals
Verify that regular monthly audits are conducted
Verify that an adequate supply of forms, materials, and supplies are on hand
Verify all required pre-inventory, inventory, and post inventory preparation, guidelines, and instructions are being followed
Ensure all movement of products from; DC to Store, and Store to Store, are maintained and regularly audited for inventory integrity
Review inventory reports for proper status assignment, documentation, and necessary actions
Communicate problems, discrepancies, and audit results to Senior Manager on a weekly basis
Risk Management Ensure complete compliance in all risk management related areas, including safety, and incident reporting
Review rental contracts and accident reports for proper policy adherence
Budgeting & Cash (Tender) Management Enforce company cash handling policies and procedures, and other loss prevention policies
Maintain practice of proper protocols in all aspects of tender usage as defined in Vail Resorts SOP manuals
Manage operational budget
Rentals Coordinate rental reservation information with Rentskis
Act as the rental and retail systems trainer conducting classes and on-the-job training as required
Verify established rental operations standards are being maintained
Review the rental training binder periodically for organization, completeness, and updates
Review rental reports, to ensure they are run and utilized per policy
Inspect fleet for overall condition and maintenance requirements
Job Requirements: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree in a business-related field preferred
3+ years of retail supervisor experience; ski industry preferred.
Strong computer literacy including Microsoft applications preferred
Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, holidays, and weekends
Excellent communications skills both written and verbal
Self-motivated to sustain productive work with the ability to multi-task
Energetic and motivated
