Flyby Aerials is seeking a creative and organized Volunteer Community Manager - Social Media to help build our online presence, connect with our audience, and turn aerial stories into engaging social content.
This is a remote, flexible, on-call volunteer role open to candidates located in Alberta, with Calgary-area candidates welcome. It is neither a full-time nor a part-time position; there are no fixed weekly hours.
Projects and tasks will be assigned based on upcoming content needs and your availability.
This opportunity is a strong fit for a student, emerging social-media professional, or creative communicator looking to gain real-world experience in content planning, audience engagement, and digital marketing. As Flyby Aerials grows, there may be opportunities for increased responsibility and potential paid work in the future; however, this position is currently unpaid and volunteer-based.
What You’ll Do
- Help plan and schedule content for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, and other relevant platforms
- Write engaging captions, post copy, calls to action, and basic hashtag sets that match Flyby Aerials’ brand voice
- Engage with comments, messages, followers, and community conversations in a friendly and professional manner
- Help build an active online community around aerial photography, drone footage, aviation, outdoor visuals, and local Alberta content
- Collaborate remotely on content ideas, social-media trends, campaign concepts, and storytelling opportunities
- Coordinate with the Social Media Video Editor or other contributors to prepare content for publishing
- Assist with organizing a content calendar and keeping track of upcoming posts, projects, and deadlines
- Monitor basic post performance and share observations on what content, formats, or topics are performing well
- Help maintain consistent branding, tone, and presentation across Flyby Aerials social-media channels
- Remain flexible to assist with other marketing, community, or content projects as they come up
Qualifications
- Interest or experience in social media management, community building, digital marketing, communications, or content creation
- Familiarity with platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, and/or X
- Strong writing skills, including clear captions, engaging post copy, and professional communication
- A good understanding of current social-media trends, short-form content, and audience engagement
- Comfortable interacting with people online in a respectful, positive, and qualified way
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment and communicate clearly about availability
- Organized, dependable, and able to keep track of tasks, content ideas, and timelines
- Comfortable receiving feedback and adapting content or messaging when needed
- English-speaking, French-speaking, or bilingual candidates are welcome
- Relevant school, volunteer, personal-project, creator-page, or work experience is an asset, but formal experience is not required
