Vancouver Coastal Health seeks a Substance Use Nurse to deliver client-focused mental health care to individuals experiencing severe mental illness and concurrent disorders. This role is grounded in therapeutic engagement and recovery principles.
As a registered nurse or registered psychiatric nurse, you will play a crucial role in assessing client needs and developing individualized treatment plans. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and families to enhance the well-being of clients while supporting their rehabilitation. Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct comprehensive assessments of mental health clients
• Collaborate on individualized strength-based care plans
• Facilitate effective communication between clients and families
• Educate clients regarding medication use and side effects
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive client records
Requirements:
• Registration with BCCNM as an RN or RPN
• Minimum 240 hours in a mental health clinical setting
• Familiar with the Mental Health Act and substance use interventions
• Experience in crisis management and conflict resolution
• Robust documentation skills in line with role standards
