Job Description
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Manager or designate, the Clinical Coordinator and Practice Lead has dual accountability of practicelead to support practice standards for existing Medical Radiological Technologists and also to coordinate studentplacement and student learning.
The Clinical Coordinator and Practice Lead is assigned accountability for the administration of the quality program forCT and Angiography within Medical Imaging Services for all Island Health sites including development,implementation and maintenance of practice standards. In collaboration with operational leaders and management,provides regional leadership, direction and guidance on practice activities and advancing practice, research andeducation. Duties include development, review and implementation of consistent practice standards,



goals andobjectives in conjunction with the Manager and other team members, leading the development and standardization ofmodality specific policies and procedures and quality assurance and coordinating all continuing education andtraining programs. The Clinical Coordinator and Practice Lead will be assigned the role of Technical Lead for therelated (or relevant) Modality Excellence Teams (MET) with quality reporting responsibility to the Medical ImagingQuality Council and the larger Island Health Quality Structure.
The Clinical Coordinator and Practice Lead supports CT and Angio teams, CT program preceptors and MedicalRadiography Student CT program students throughout Island Health by planning, organizing and monitoring studenteducation in collaboration with post secondary institutions and Professional Practice. The Clinical Coordinator andPractice Lead coordinates student placement, determines goals and objectives, evaluates student progress and is themain resource for site preceptors. The Clinical Coordinator and Practice Lead supports radiological technologists,clinical leaders, preceptors, and staff and liaises with post-secondary institutions in clinical quality improvementinitiatives and their endeavors to provide a quality learning environment for students.
Regular travel between all sites is required during the clinical placement period. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Island Health in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education,



Training And Experience Graduation from an approved Radiology Technologist Diploma program; and
CAMRT Computed Tomography Imaging Certification (CTIC); and
Four (4) years recent, related experience in an acute hospital setting; including one (1) year's recent experience in a teaching capacity; and
Eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT); and
Valid Class 5 Driver's license.
An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.

Physically able to perform the duties of the position.
Completion of CTIC, CIR, or equivalent education and demonstrated experience in CT and/or Interventional Radiology preferred.
