Origin Digital is supporting our client, Kynetec — a global leader in agriculture and animal health data analytics — in hiring for this role. This form helps us quickly assess fit before moving forward with the interview process. It should take about 5 minutes to complete.

THE ROLE

We're hiring a VP of Technology to own data and application engineering for our Animal Health business. This is a player-leader role: you'll run the team day to day, own the technical roadmap, and be the face of technology to the business stakeholders and clients who depend on our platforms. You'll operate in a rapid-moving environment with real ambiguity and real deadlines — and do it while leading a team spread across multiple offshore locations.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Lead the Team

- Manage and grow a data and application engineering organization — engineering managers, data engineers, application/front-end developers, and QA

- Manage distributed and offshore teams across multiple locations, keeping delivery quality, communication, and culture consistent across time zones
- Own hiring, performance management, and career development for the team

Own the Data Platform

- Set the roadmap and architecture direction for the data platform on AWS, Databricks, and Snowflake
- Keep pipelines, models, and infrastructure reliable and cost-effective as data volume and complexity grow
- Drive data quality and governance standards across the platform

Own Data and Application Engineering

- Set the roadmap and technical direction for client-facing and internal applications, including front-end/UI work and full-stack delivery
- Balance new feature delivery against platform stability, technical debt, and scalability
- Set and enforce engineering standards across the application layer

Partner with the Business

- Be the go-to technology partner for business and commercial stakeholders, translating business priorities into a roadmap
- Make and defend prioritization calls when multiple stakeholders want their request handled first
- Represent technology in cross-functional and leadership discussions

Support Client Relationships

- Act as a senior technical point of contact for key clients — roadmap conversations, technical questions, and escalations when needed
- Feed client input back into the platform and application roadmap

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

Required

- 10+ years in data and/or application engineering, including 5+ years leading engineering teams
- Hands-on, architecture-level knowledge of AWS, Databricks, and Snowflake
- Ability to partner with and support data science & ML delivery
- Solid delivery management focus and discipline
- Strong grasp of front-end technologies and modern application development practices

- Experience managing offshore or otherwise distributed teams across multiple locations
- A track record of working directly with business stakeholders and/or external clients
- Comfort with a fast-paced environment, shifting priorities, and a high degree of autonomy

Preferred

- Experience in animal health, life sciences, or another data-as-a-product business
- Experience in data science and tools such as MLflow / TensorFlow
- Exposure to modern data governance or AI/ML tooling layered on a Databricks/Snowflake stack
