Join School District 60 as a First Nations Cultural Coordinator. This role centers on enhancing culturally responsive educational experiences for First Nations students in Fort St. John, BC.
In this agile position, the Coordinator will collaborate with Indigenous communities, families, and school teams to ensure educational strategies honor Indigenous ways of learning. You will play a key role in advocating for First Nations students, organizing cultural events, and developing educational materials. This is a vital position that supports student engagement and promotes cultural safety.
Key Responsibilities:
• Foster communication between schools and First Nations families
• Coordinate cultural events and community engagement activities
• Support planning for educational resources aligned with Indigenous knowledge
• Assist in the implementation of Local Education Agreements
• Maintain student statistics and support reporting requirements
Requirements:
• Preference for candidates with Indigenous ancestry
• 2 years post-secondary education in a related field
• Significant experience in Indigenous education
• Strong organizational and project management skills
• Flexibility to work outside standard hours
