Position summary

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Warehouse Assistant to support daily operations in our warehouse under the guidance of the Supervisor, Warehouse Operations. This vital role contributes to the smooth functioning of food distribution, warehouse organization, and inventory management.

Key responsibilities:

Food sorting and distribution

- Sort and distribute perishable food items (produce, bread, meat, dairy, deli)
- Assist with loading/unloading trucks and preparing food orders for agencies and schools
- Ensure all distributed or donated items are properly weighed and recorded

Inventory and storage

- Accept and log donations; inspect and track all incoming deliveries
- Label, categorize and rotate stock to minimize waste
- Monitor cooler/freezer temperatures and maintain optimal storage conditions
- Maintain expired product area for farmer reclaim

Warehouse maintenance





- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the warehouse, including shelves, fridges, bins and totes
- Remove garbage, recycling, cardboard and compost to appropriate outdoor receptacles

Collaboration and communication

- Work alongside volunteers and other departments to support daily operations
- Follow proper food safety protocols and recall notices
- Actively participate in improvement initiatives and team meetings
- Comfortable interacting with a diverse client group with sensitivity and care

Working conditions:

- Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment (standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, walking)
- Willing to work in coolers and freezers throughout the day
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Organized, dependable and detail-oriented

Wage and hours : $22/hour, 7 a.m. - 3 p.m. Monday – Friday (37.5 hours per week)
