Field Operations Full Time North Bay, ON $20 - $30 CAD per hour

The Carpenter (Restoration & Reconstruction) is responsible for performing structural repairs, reconstruction, renovation, and finishing work (including framing, drywall, flooring, trim, and cabinetry installation) on residential and commercial properties damaged by water, fire, wind, mold, vehicle impact, or other insured losses.

This role supports the reconstruction phase of restoration projects and is responsible for returning properties to their pre‑loss condition through quality craftsmanship, safe work practices, and professional customer service. The Carpenter works closely with Project Managers, Coordinators, Technicians, subcontractors, and customers to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to established quality standards.

The Carpenter plays a key role in helping customers recover from property loss while supporting DKI's commitment to Human-Centered recovery.

The ideal candidate has strong carpentry skills, takes pride in quality workmanship, and can work independently or lead a small crew. Attention to detail, professionalism, and a commitment to safety are essential.

Perform residential and commercial reconstruction activities following property damage.

Complete rough and finish carpentry work in accordance with project requirements.

Repair, replace, and install framing, drywall, insulation, flooring, trim, doors, cabinets, and other building components.

Perform demolition and preparation work as required for reconstruction activities.

Complete repairs in compliance with applicable building codes and company standards.

Ensure workmanship meets quality, safety, and customer expectations.

Install and repair baseboards, casings, doors, hardware, mouldings, shelving, and millwork.

Complete drywall repairs, finishing, and preparation for painting.

Perform flooring installation and repairs where required.

Ensure completed work is clean, professional, and ready for occupancy.

Identify deficiencies and complete corrective work when necessary.

Project Support

Review work orders, scopes of work, sketches, and project requirements.

Assist Project Managers and Coordinators in identifying repair requirements.

Communicate project progress and potential issues promptly.

Assist with material take‑offs and material requirements.

Support project schedules and production timelines.

Customer Service





Communicate professionally with homeowners, tenants, property managers, and other stakeholders.

Explain work being completed and answer customer questions when appropriate.

Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude at all times.

Demonstrate empathy and respect when working in occupied homes and businesses.

Health & Safety

Follow all company health and safety policies and procedures.

Use required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Maintain clean and organized work areas.

Identify and report hazards, incidents, and unsafe conditions.

Operate tools and equipment safely.

Participate in required safety meetings and training.

Equipment & Asset Care

Operate company vehicles, tools, and equipment safely and responsibly.

Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.

Protect customer property and company assets from damage.

Work collaboratively with Project Managers, Coordinators, Restoration Technicians, Lead Technicians, and subcontractors.

Support emergency response and restoration operations when required.

Assist with mentoring and training less experienced employees.

Contribute to a positive team environment.

Qualifications
Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Minimum 3–5 years of carpentry, renovation, construction, or reconstruction experience preferred.

Experience in restoration, insurance reconstruction, residential renovation, or property repair considered a strong asset.

Experience working in occupied residential and commercial environments preferred.

Technical Knowledge

Strong knowledge of residential and commercial construction practices.

Experience with framing, drywall, insulation, flooring, trim, and finishing work.

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, work orders, and specifications.

Familiarity with applicable building codes and construction standards.

Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment.

Valid driver’s licence with a satisfactory driving record.

Occasional after‑hours or emergency response support is required.
