Duties
Detachment Services Assistants provide administrative and operational support to police members and others at the detachment. They also provide assistance and information to the public.

Intent of the process
The initial intent is to staff the position on a temporary basis (until June 30, 2027). The process may also be used for future temporary or indeterminate staffing.Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

Operational Requirements

Willingness and ability to work in a busy police environment where exposure to unsettling and/or graphic material may occur

Willingness and ability to work overtime, as required

You need (essential for the job)

Successful completion of two years of secondary school, or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience

Experience providing clerical support services, such as managing the intake of or processing requests, file management, and/or processing mail

Experience with data entry, maintenance and retrieval

Experience providing service to internal or external clients, via telephone, in-person or by e-mail

Ability to communicate effectively in writing

Applied / assessed at a later date

Ability to communicate effectively orally

Ability to organize and prioritize work

Ability to work in a stressful environment

Demonstrating integrity and respect

Thinking things through

Working effectively with others

Showing initiative and being action-oriented

Dependability

Language requirements (essential for the job)




May be applied / assessed at a later date

Experience maintaining a law enforcement database, such as the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) and/or Police Reporting and Occurrence System (PROS)
