Mix plastersubstances in trough to preferred consistency

Apply, stage andeasy coats of plaster the use of trowels, floats,brushes and spraying device

Trowel or spraycoats of stucco over exteriors of homes to shapeweatherproof surfaces

Finish corners andangles and create ornamental designs in end coat, ifrequired

Cure freshlyplastered surfaces

Mould and depletiondecorative plaster panels, cornices and trim

Spray acousticsubstances or texture end over partitions and ceilings.

Measure, reduce andmatch drywall sheets for set up on partitions andceilings

Position and stablesheets to metallic or wood studs or joists

Cut and depletionmetallic nook beads to guard outside corners

Requirements

Generally a highschool diploma is required.

Completion of athree- or four-year apprenticeship in plastering, drywall orturning.





Usually requires acombination of more than three years of work experience andsome high school, college, or industry plastering, plasteringor turning.

The plasterer tradecertification is required in Quebec and is available, but notrequired, in Ontario, Saskatchewan and BritishColumbia.

Professionaldrywall installation and finishing certificates areavailable, but voluntary, in British Columbia.

Professionalcertification for lathes (furniture mills) is required inQuebec and is available, but not required, in all otherprovinces and the Yukon.

Red SealCertification is also offered to qualified lathes (interiorsystems mechanics) after passing the intercity Red Sealexam.
